You Are Powerful

When I was a kid I got bullied a lot. They didn’t like people who were different or weird and I was a bit of both. I remember retreating, curling and making myself as small as possible in the back of classrooms, trying my best to make myself disappear completely. As I’ve gotten older and grown in confidence I’ve learned to take up more space, spread out bit by bit and stand up tall. Even people who have been blind from birth make the Yass pose when they win something and feel powerful, it’s instinctual. But perhaps if we do it before the power comes, we can trick our brains into making us feel powerful before we actually are. “Fake it til we make it” as it were. Like a fake smile releases happy chemicals in your brain, so a pose can make a change in your brain to make you feel powerful. That’s the theory anyway. Give it a try: nudity optional but encouraged. And if you need a more permanent reminder get the “You Are Powerful” print here.

Each post takes a lot of time to write, plus a little bit of my soul. So If you liked it, I’d really appreciate some love in the form of a comment or a share. Thank-you <3
